2024 afdcs anniversary drive

Happy anniversary AFDCS! Yes, it is that time of year. 68 years ago, October 15, 1955, the AFDCS was founded. And today we remain a healthy and vibrant organization.

As we have done in recent years, we are holding a 68-hour fundraiser to ensure our future. When we started these anniversary fundraisers, the donated funds were necessary to support the day to day operations of the AFDCS. Today, we have a very healthy bank balance. We are now raising funds for the AFDCS Endowment Fund, which provides startup funds for new services or products outside the operating budget. In the last three years, the AFDCS Endowment Fund has grown from $600 to over $25,000.

The AFDCS Executive Committee recently established a Strategic Planning Committee to identify new ways to grow the AFDCS and first day cover collecting, likely in part through the AFDCS Endowment Fund. The committee is scheduled to provide its recommendations at the next Executive Committee meeting.

As part of our anniversary fundraiser, please contribute to the AFDCS Endowment Fund and the future of our hobby.  Suggested donations are $19.55 (for the year of our founding), $68.00 (for our 68th anniversary) or an amount of your choice. You can donate using the buttons below or mail a check, payable to the AFDCS, to the AFDCS Central Office, Box 27, Greer, SC 29652-0027. All donations will be acknowledged in a future issue of First Days and donors will receive a souvenir cover marking the event.
